From start to finish our experience was Wal Robbins was simply outstanding. There are no doubt lots of good builders in Sydney, but what sets Wal Robbins apart is their focus on the customer – their approach to not just build a house but really get to know you and your family and what your needs are. You as the customer are at the centre of everything, not the house itself. We worked with Wal Robbins as they did my parents-in-law house 20 years ago (which they still remember) and highly recommended them.

We embarked on our project in the middle of market downturn and also becoming pregnant with our second child. John Bittar’s non-pushy and consultative approach reassured us that we were going to get what we really wanted. He gave us the space we needed to review our options and accommodated our ideas.

Throughout the initial stages and for the entire project Bali was a incredibly supportive and understanding of any changes we needed to make, offering experienced advise which saved us money and gave us a better result. Others no doubt would do as we ask and pocket the profit from our mistakes.

The biggest thanks and praise goes to our project manager David, who without doubt is probably one of the nicest people I have met, and combined with his experience and project management skills, actually made the building process an enjoyable experience (who would have thought?!). Always on hand to offer advice, he knew exactly what was happening and when, and delivered the project exactly on time ready for us to move in with our young family.

We’ve been in the house for going on a year now and still sit back int be evenings and marvel at the craftsmanship and quality of the work. The tradies that Wal Robbins works with are second to none, and having worked together for many years (in some instances decades) it speaks to the type of your firm you’re dealing with – strong relationships are rewarded with quality work, and that’s what you get.

I have no reservations in recommending Wal Robins for a building or extension project, and if we were ever to do this again we would be using them again!

As we sit here enjoying our newly renovated house we wanted to say a sincere thank you to you and your team for the wonderful work you have done for us over the past year.

We approached the renovation with some trepidation, having not done anything like this before and with some concern about all the things you hear about going wrong in projects like this: cost blowouts, delays and difficulties getting exactly the result you originally wanted.
But our experience could not have been better.
From the very first day when we sat down with you to design the work, through the ease of dealing with council, to working with your various staff during construction, to making the final payment right on budget, we have been comforted that we were in the hands of experienced professionals we could trust.

I have said to the many friends and family who have marvelled at our renovation that Wal Robbins Additions gave us exactly what we asked for, but the result is so much more than we expected.

• Kelvin Jiang, whose wonderful attitude and workmanship made painting the entire house a pleasure rather than a chore.
• Glenn McDonald, whose work resurfacing our outdoor areas provided a perfect – and we mean perfect – result.
• Rob Brown at Styline Kitchens, who gave us a great design and reliable advice about where to spend money and where to stay away from fads and gimmicks. What a pleasure it was to work with him.

Until I called you, my stress levels were sky high trying to find someone who could plan and build our extension. From the moment I called that stress almost vanished.

Ray seemed to know exactly what we wanted before we told him. From the moment we saw his diagram, and his assurance you would try to match the existing 93 year old house as near as possible, we knew we had chosen the right company to handle the job. The end result is beyond our expectations.

I’d like to thank not only Ray, but Aimee, whose friendly professionalism is a credit to your company. I’d also like to thank all the tradies from the concreters, brickies, carpenters, roofers, tilers, electricians, painters, and plasterers, who I won’t attempt to name as I’d hate to forget anyone.

And a special thank you to David for managing the whole thing. It was an amazing process to watch and given how busy tradies are these days the way David kept things rolling along is a credit to him.

I have to tell you the job is so well done, a couple of times I’ve been disorientated. It’s like living in a resort compared to what we had. I can honestly say that even though renovations are a massive interruption to your life it was a pleasure dealing with all the team at Wal Robbins. The fact there were very few problems (and only minor ones at that!) encountered is a testament to the professional standard that you and all your builders adhere to.

I’d like to take my time to thank each and every one that was involved with the job, to the team at Wal Robbins, Aimee who assisted greatly with enquiries and all the red tape processing, Leigh, where do I start with Leigh! an absolute pleasure to deal with and nothing is ever a problem and is always sorted! All the boys that came on site from demo to the odd jobs and final touches; even Leigh picked up the tools there in the end and I can honestly say his work was exemplary.

To David who’s electrical work and attention to detail was spot on and was always a pleasure to have him onsite, Leo and Tony’s plastering was faultless and was at times like having family working onsite thanks boys!; And Fadi & Sam’s rendering, Sam where do I start with Sam, his attention to detail and efforts were above and beyond what I expected, there was no chance of ever matching the existing render; but his time and effort truly did achieve a result that is very close and is of a standard that is not easily noticed. It was a pleasure having you both on site.

Thanks to Andrew the plumber, who clearly had the worst job of all! your efforts are appreciated and even though there was some unfortunate unforeseen work it was all handled with the utmost care and thought.

Finally to the carpenters, Andrew and all the boys from Caswell that were on site, your work, attention to detail, ethic and professionalism is second to none; The deck finish is phenomenal. It’s a constant talking point and looks fantastic we both thank you very much.

Finally if I’ve forgotten anyone either by name or trade it’s by no means deliberate, every day was a pleasure and everyone involved professional kind and courteous and the standard of work reflects this; so thank you to all involved! even with such a “small” job there are so many people involved, and as once discussed with Leigh, even “small” jobs can create “large” problems if not careful or not planned properly; and the smallest job is still a large interruption in your life! but neither was encountered and the interruption is always temporary and less of a hindrance when everyone is so pleasant!

We have no hesitation at anytime in recommending Wal Robbins to anyone for their building or renovation work.

I don’t have many photos at the moment, as there is still a lot for me to complete but I’ve included a couple of the completed deck and pergola for you.

Secondly, I could not be more pleased that your Company handled by building project for me.

The quality of work, regular supervision and always keeping in touch to let me know of any changes to times, etc. The building was finished within the time frame given and to a very high standard; all this much appreciated.

The workers, be they staff or contractors, always hard working, helpful and cheerful. Going beyond the norm, one of the deck installers gave my son, Gerard, some great cars that were surplus to his collection. Simon Hanna, while tiling – to a high standard – had his son put up several rope clothes lines. I had not mentioned this to him, he just saw it would be helpful, especially in wet weather.

A consultant nurse at RPA Hospital, Danielle, at some stage wants to do some alterations to the back of her house. I told her she could not do better than to speak to your company about it and she took details.

So, all in all, I can say, well done “Wal Robbins” and thank you very much!

My name is Helen Pontikis and just before Christmas your company completed a renovation and extension on my home in Campsie.

Family and friends tried hard to talk me out of going ahead with this reno, but even I did not imagine it would go as smoothly as it did.

And this happened primarily because of Dave Stephens and his team of contractors.

They did a brilliant job in turning my sad-looking Federation house into a beautiful home.

Dave looks young but is mature beyond his years. Many times he offered me sound advice, advice I knew was genuine and honest and this I really appreciated.

I’m writing to say thanks to you and the Wal Robbins team for our recent renovation. Not only did you produce a great end result, it was also an enjoyable experience from start to finish.

Your team did an amazing job throughout the renovation and were all-round fun to have around. As well as being professional and skilled, they often went above and beyond what was expected and helped out in lots of ways that made the process easier.

A few special mentions:

• To ‘Carpenter’ Mick for his work on the gorgeous pergola and for returning time and time again to finish off all the little things from door knobs to dryer exhausts
• To ‘Sadie’ Mick for helping to solve the pergola design and then turning up post‐flu to replace and weld metal posts. And to Apprentice Mick (you really need to hire some people with different names) for supporting the other two Micks through it all
• To Charlie for showing me how to put some muscle into tile cleaning, not to mention his fantastic tiling skills. I’ve since had other tradespeople comment on the quality of his work
• To Dave for helping to solve the laundry design while he was there doing his day job ie: the electrical work
• To Ben who resolved any plumbing issue that came up with a smile
• To the team back at the office – yourself, Bali, Casey and Marian – because nothing was ever a problem
